Conwoman promised MHADA flats, nabbed

A conwoman, arrested by the Antop Hill police on Friday for posing as a Congress activist and duping more than 100 persons to the tune of several lakhs of rupees, was remanded to police custody till August 16 by the holiday court on Saturday. The woman, Pushpa Iyer, had been promising people MHADA houses, at cheaper rates, for the past five years.
"Iyer, 44, who was booked under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) IPC, admitted her guilt and revealed names of two of her accomplices from Navi Mumbai, said senior police inspector Shamsher Pathan of Antop Hill police station, adding that they were on the duo's trail. Most of these victim were residents of Antop Hill, Naigaon, Pratiksha Nagar and Mahim, said Pathan.
