Postmaster held for ticket scam
A senior employee of the postal department was arrested on Saturday for allegedly trying to double up as a railway ticket tout by selling tickets for a commission.
The accused, Pradeep Munde, 42, is a postmaster at Bhiwandi post office. A postmaster is the in-charge of a post office. Munde was found in possession of four tickets of III-tier air-condition compartment of the Vivek Express that plies from Bandra to Jammu, said Alok Bohra, senior divisional security commissioner, Railway Protection Force, Central Railway. “He also had blank ticket application forms with him and Rs26,981 in cash. He was unable to explain why he had kept blank forms or the source of the money,” said Bohra.
Blank ticket forms cannot be possessed by anyone but railway authorities. The police suspect he was to sell these tickets for a commission, and the cash was collected from sale of other tickets,” said Bohra, adding that Munde has been sent to two days in custody.
Until November 30 this year, the railway police have arrested 240 persons for touting.
