If someone is hit by my vehicle, what should I do immediately? Would it be a right option to immediately surrender to the police station?

I am a lawyer I will give you the exact answer.

So sir, whenever your car collides with any person and that person gets hurt or dies, then what should be done in such a situation, let me tell you.

Now from the point of view of humanity, after the accident, we should stop and take the injured person in our car and take it to the hospital, but practically it is not possible. Because when an accident happens, often a huge crowd gathers and starts beating the accident person blaming him and many times it has been seen that the car is also set on fire.

Now in such a situation, if you are devastated by taking a car, then it will be considered that you ran away from the law and you did not help anyone after hurting him, and if this happens, then section 304 of IPC will be imposed on you. And you can be jailed up to 10 years or fine if a person dies in an accident with you.

Let me tell you here that if you die in an accident, then usually you are subject to section 304A, in which there is a provision of maximum punishment of 2 years and fine. But if you run away in an accident, it will be assumed that you knew that you hit someone and if you do not help him, he may die, and you ran away, due to this section 304 is levied which includes 10 years. Punishment is.

So now that you have understood the importance of helping and also know the disadvantages of being champ, then now I will tell you the right way which you should adopt in a sudden accident so that the law does not punish you with harsh punishment.

So sir, if your accident happens on a deserted road and there is no danger from the public, then without delay, put the injured person in your car and take it to the nearest hospital. Now if there is a minor injury, you can go home after satisfying the victim and paying the cost of its treatment by getting a bandage done.

Now if the accident has become so severe that there is a possibility that the person may have died and there is a furious mob, then in such a situation, to avoid beating the public, stop the vehicle by taking a few kilometers ahead and immediately call the police helpline 112 and And tell the police that an accident has happened at this place, send an ambulance as soon as possible so that the injured can get treatment. You must also tell them your name.

Now because there is a record of the calls made to the police and later you can extract such records through RTI and give proof that you called for the help of the victim, such evidence will have to prove it later. I will help you that your intention was to help the injured person, not to run away.

Now if you want, you can surrender directly to the police station, and after telling about the whole incident, you can also come home without going to jail, that too on the same day. Hey don't watch out sir, I am right, death by accident is an offense of section 304A, and this section is a bailable section, which means that the police will either release you from the police station on bail, or you will be taken from the court. Even if you present it in me, you will get bail immediately. Because there is a right to bail in bailable offenses, and this right cannot be taken away from you by the police or the court.

Always remember one thing, never go directly to the police station, because it may happen that the police demand respect from you and if you do not give, write a lie in the case that you did not come to him, but he had arrested you after chasing him. Section 304 will be imposed on you, in this there is a punishment of 10 years and the offense is not bailable.

Debit card frauds on the rise: Follow these safety tips to keep yourself protected

If you own a bank account, you are likely to have a debit card linked to it. People use debit card for a number of financial services. You can withdraw money from bank account from an ATM using a debit card. The debit card can be used to pay money through POS machines at retailers or shop online on ecommerce platforms or to pay bills.

While debit card come with the authentication process for safety of customers, hackers keep targeting cardholders with different techniques to get hold of card and confidential information. Hence debit card users should be constantly vigilant against fraud while using them. Read below to find out ways to keep yourself protected when using a debit card.

Don’t let your CVV or PIN become vulnerable to data theft

The most important confidential information for debit card usage is the PIN. Never save your PIN anywhere on your phone or any paper accessible to others. It is best to keep the pin memorised. Banks do not ask for your PIN for any service. If you are asked for your PIN by any person on call, they are likely to be impostors pretending to be bank officials. The same applies for your debit card CVV, the three-digit number on the back. CVV is used for online transfers.

Keep monitoring monthly statements for fraud of which you may not be aware

Nowadays, hackers also resort to making several small, negligible transactions from several accounts rather than a big sum from a single account. This method is used to not raise alarm. As a result, frauds can go undetected for the longest time. If you find an unknown transaction in your statement, notify the bank right away. The same is also true for lost or stolen cards. Immediately notifying also insures you in case the card is used in a financial fraud. Also monitor messages of transactions from bank to your registered mobile phone. If you get a message for a transaction you did not make, contact the bank asap.

Ensure authenticity of the trader, platform, persons when using your debit card

Only use your card at trusted traders or websites. Similarly, do not trust strangers to help you when trying to withdraw money or use it for payment. Don’t let people see your PIN when entering it at an outlet. Also, do not let a trader or any other person take your debit card out of your sight for swiping or using at a POS machine.

WhatsApp scam alert! Users advised to use THIS feature carefully

As per a report published by a local daily, fraudsters have already managed to dupe victims of Rs 50,07,955

While WhatsApp messenger is globally one of the most used messaging apps, with an increasing number of users and new features it also possesses a threat to people. Even though the company often keeps a check on the security of its users and constantly releases privacy measures, hackers seem to come up with new ways to get into peoples' accounts.

Recently, a group of cybercriminals tried to extract money from people through the 'WhatsApp Pay' feature available in the app. The Meta (formerly Facebook) owned texting app, recently introduced the 'WhatsApp Pay' feature where one user can transfer money directly to another user using WhatsApp.

This group of hackers based in the United Kingdom found a way to cheat on people by scamming them.

The group simply sent out a 'Hello Mum' or 'Hello Dad' message to its target followed by an SOS message to immediately transfer money to an account because their son or daughter might be in trouble and in need of money.

As per a report published by a local daily, fraudsters have already managed to dupe victims of GBP 50,000.

However, this scam is just not limited to the UK, similar tricks have also been found in India where scammers have asked people for money. What scammers really do is imitate a person close to you so that you do not question their motives. It can be a parent, child, sibling, friend, colleague, etc.

To avoid such transactions, WhatsApp users are advised to double-check their contact list and the person they are transferring money to.

Beware! THIS WhatsApp scam lets cybercriminals steal all your money - Know how to stop it

Suffolk Trading Standards in the United Kingdom has issued a warning to WhatsApp users that fraudsters are targeting them through fake messages.

Beware! THIS WhatsApp scam lets cybercriminals steal all your money - Know how to stop it

People are being scammed through various tricks on the most used messaging app. Whatsapp has become a platform for cyber fraud nowadays. The recent scam on WhatsApp is the cybercriminals pretending to be family members. Suffolk Trading Standards, a government institute of the UK has warned WhatsApp users that fraudsters are pretending to be one of their family members and targeting them through fake messages.

In a recent incident, a woman residing in Kessingland received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number, claiming to be her daughter. The fraudster tried to convince the mother that she had fallen into the washroom and that this is her new contact number. Con-person requested money from the mother as she was required to pay a bill and she couldn't access her account. Fortunately, the mother didn't fall for the con and called her daughter by other means.

Suffolk County Council shared some losses to WhatsApp scams and other frauds. The Council said, "..It is estimated that Pounds 5 billion to Pounds 10 billion is lost to scams each year in the UK. Scams may occur through phone calls, letters, emails, the internet or at your door."

How to know if it's a WhatsApp scam or not?

- Scammers may pretend to be your family member, relative or friend, always confirm and never fall for that.

- Scammers will try to get your financial details.

- The fraudster will create such a situation and will put you under pressure to fall for the scam easily.

- The scammer will also ask to keep the conversation a secret.

How to avoid being the victim of a scam?

- The scammer will pretend to be your family member or friend, don’t fall for it and verify the identity immediately.

- Try to understand the texting style to know if the person is really your known person or not.

- Never share your OTP even if they seem to be bank employees and never share your bank account information.

- If you get to know the scam or a cyber-fraudster, report them immediately. Users may also report directly through WhatsApp by going to Settings - Help and then Contact Us. Share your situation and report the scam.

Rafale manufacturer Dassault paid EUR 7.5 million to middleman to secure deal: Report

The portal claimed that the office of AG of Mauritius sent 'bogus' receipts allegedly raised by firms linked to Gupta to the CBI on October 11, 2018.

Rafale manufacturer Dassault paid EUR 7.5 million to middleman to secure deal: Report

In some shocking revelations made by a French portal, Dassault Aviation, manufacturer of the Rafale fighter aircraft had paid a whopping 7.5 million euros to 'intermediary' between 2007 and 2012 to help it secure a multi-billion deal with India for the sale of Rafale fighter jets. The 'intermediary' in question is Sushen Gupta's Mauritius company Interstellar Technologies.

But what comes as even more shocking is the fact that the portal has claimed that the office of the Attorney General of Mauritius had sent 'bogus' receipts allegedly raised by firms linked to Gupta to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on October 11, 2018. The portal has shared an image of the letter from the Mauritius AG's office to the CBI.

It goes on to say that the documents were received by the CBI a week after a complaint was filed on the suspicious activity that took place from 2015 with regard to the deal. Indian investigative agencies however decided not to pursue the case, the French portal claims.

The portal had earlier reported that middleman Sushen Gupta had supplied classified documents to Dassault Aviation on the activities of the Indian negotiating team. Gupta has been charge-sheeted by the Enforcement Directorate in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal case.

Meanwhile, the CBI, Ministry of Defence, Dassault Aviation is yet to comment on the claims and charges made in the French portal's report.

"This was how Indian detectives discovered that Sushen Gupta had also acted as an intermediary for Dassault Aviation over the Rafale deal. His Mauritian company Interstellar Technologies received at least 7.5 million euros from the French aviation firm between 2007 and 2012, thanks to IT contracts that were clearly overbilled, and from which most of the money was discreetly sent to Mauritius using a system of alleged false invoices. Some of these invoices even got the name of the French company wrong, referring instead to 'Dassult Aviation'," the portal reported.

The portal raises fingers on both the UPA and NDA governments as a set of documents showed that Gupta received the 'secret commission' between 2007 and 2012 when the Congress-led UPA government was in power. On the other hand, the report also states that other documents obtained by Indian detectives show that in 2015, during the final negotiations of the Rafale contract, Sushen Gupta got hold of confidential documents from India's Ministry of Defence.

Founders of world's biggest crypto Ponzi scheme charged with fraud BitConnect scammed investors out of $2bn, US authorities say

The creators of the world’s largest cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme have been charged by US authorities with defrauding investors of more than $2bn (£1.45bn).

BitConnect was charged by two US prosecutors of operating "a textbook" Ponzi scheme by paying earlier investors with money from later investors. It is believed to be the largest cryptocurrency fraud to be subject to criminal charges.

The US Department of Justice said BitConnect's US promoter and director, Glenn Arcaro, pleaded guilty to charges brought in California, and now faces up to 20 years in prison.

US attorney Randy Grossman said: “Arcaro and his confidantes preyed on investor interest in cryptocurrency. As a result, a staggering number of individuals lost an enormous amount of money.”

The Department of Justice said Mr Arcaro admitted he earned $24m from BitConnect, which he must now repay to investors.

Separately, the Securities and Exchange Commission filed fraud charges against BitConnect's founder, Satish Kumbhani, in New York.

Lara Shalov Mehraban, associate regional director of the Securities and Exchange Commission, said: "We allege that these defendants stole billions of dollars from retail investors around the world by exploiting their interest in digital assets. We will aggressively pursue and hold accountable those who engage in misconduct in the digital asset space."

BitConnect was available to trade on major cryptocurrency exchanges. It had an opaque corporate structure, which included a UK based company, BitConnect Ltd, and a US branch. The whereabouts of its founder, Mr Kumbhani, is currently unknown.

The company claimed to use a “trading bot” to generate automated returns for users who bought its cryptocurrency. But the business shut down suddenly in January 2018, causing the price of its coin to collapse to zero and leaving thousands of buyers with nothing.

'So much money you'll have a hard time counting it'

The cryptocurrency scam gained worldwide attention when a promotional video for the digital coin went viral as it hosted an event in Thailand.

The video featured the company's flamboyant spokesperson, Carlos Matos, repeatedly shouting “BitConnect” to an audience that was viewed millions of times.

In the video, Mr Matos tells attendees: “I am saying to so many people who say that this is going to be a con artist's game. That my wife still doesn’t believe in me. I am telling her, no honey this is real.

“People are going to be making so much money that they are going to have a real hard time counting it. I love BitConnect!”

Mr Matos later said he did not realise BitConnect was a scam and had invested money himself. He has not been named by US authorities.

The $2bn cost of BitConnect ranks it as one of the world’s largest Ponzi schemes, although some way below Bernie Madoff’s $65bn fraud uncovered in 2008.

The value of BitConnect’s token soared in value as the price of Bitcoin skyrocketed in December 2017, before its founders disappeared.

Three years after the firm's exit scam, US authorities said that after duping investors out of funds, BitConnect siphoned investor funds to digital wallets controlled by its team. It built a network of promoters around the world and rewarded them by paying commissions.

Mr Kumbhani, Mr Arcaro and Mr Matos could not be reached for comment.

Justin Trudeau is the King of Woke – and Canada has finally tired of his hubris

His decision to call a snap election has backfired disastrously

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is fighting for his political life. His decision to bring down his minority government and call an early election has seriously backfired. His Liberals are behind in the polls to the Conservatives, and are sinking fast.

Many Canadians are furious about voting during Covid-19. They’re irritated with Trudeau’s wasteful spending on expensive programmes like a national carbon tax and childcare plan. But above all, they’re tired of the smug, know-it-all attitude of this sire of political royalty (his late father also served as PM) who, before politics, had accomplished next to nothing in life.

When Trudeau was elected Prime Minister in 2015, he became the darling of the Left-liberal elite. They viewed him as a natural replacement to former US President Barack Obama. They believed he would enthusiastically promote issues like the environment, feminism, and wealth taxes. They hoped he would become a beacon of light who used compassion to tame rogue states, totalitarian nations and terrorists. Trudeau was “woke” before most of us had even heard of the word.

Many people saw right through this nonsense, of course. Trudeau wasn’t a leader. He had briefly taught French, maths and drama at a Vancouver-based private school, dropped out of a master’s degree in environmental geography, and dabbled in politics when it suited his purposes. He won his seat in Quebec by under 1,200 votes in 2008. He was elected Liberal leader five years later because the party had dropped to third place and thought his surname would pique interest.

This doesn’t take away from Trudeau’s election victory in 2015. He and his team rebuilt a shattered party, and fairly beat former Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper. But while Lefties believed they had found a progressive champion, the rest knew his hubris was built on hot air.

Canada’s economy has weakened under his leadership. He’s spent taxpayer money like a drunken sailor on public services, while private sector involvement has severely diminished. Emergency relief measures during Covid-19 pushed the federal deficit up from C$21.77 billion C$314 billion in 2020 – and it’s racing towards C$380-400 billion this fiscal year. His plan to raise the corporate tax rate on banks and insurers from 15 to 18 per cent could crush the housing market and lower Canada’s credit rating.

Trudeau’s public image has also taken a beating. Thanks to three older instances of him wearing blackface, and spats with (mostly) female MPs and cabinet ministers which have led opponents to call him a “fake feminist”, he has been accused of hypocrisy. But more often he just comes across as ridiculous – for example for using silly phrases such as “she-conomy,” “she-cession” and “peoplekind.”

That’s why many Canadians are fed up with all things Trudeau. If this trend continues to the September 20 election, the final chapter of his lacklustre political career will be written – and his fall from grace will be complete.

Victim of petrol pump fraud? Follow these tips to avoid being cheated at fuel stations

Since petrol pump scams are increasing day by day, here is what you can do to avoid getting conned at petrol pumps.

Petrol and diesel prices are increasing continuously. Rising fuel prices are a concern for everyone and one can't do much about it, but you can save some money by avoiding petrol pump frauds, which occur on a daily basis. At the fuel station, the customers are not given full petrol and they are cheated.

Since petrol pump scams are increasing day by day, here is what you can do to avoid getting conned at petrol pumps.

5 tips to avoid being duped at fuel stations

1. Meter check

Always ensure that the meter is reset to 0 before the attendant starts filling fuel. Keep an eye on the meter at all times while the your vehicle is being refuelled. The attendant may try to block your view to the meter while you are inside the car. It is advisable that you get out of the car and check that the meter is reset. (Representative image)

2. Filter paper test

According to the Consumer Protection Act of 1986, petrol pumps are required to keep filter papers stocked. If a consumer asks for a filter paper test to check whether the fuel is adulterated or not, then the petrol pump can't deny them.

All you have to do is put a few drops of petrol on the filter paper and if it evaporates without leaving a stain then you can be sure that the petrol is pure. In case the petrol evaporates leaving behind some stains then it indicates that the petrol is adulterated. You can avoid getting conned this way. (Representative image)

3. Short-fuelling

At times, customers become victims of short fuelling at petrol pumps. A common method pumps use to scam motorists is filling up a lower amount 'by mistake'. For example, say you have asked for fuel worth Rs 1,500. The attendant fills up only Rs 500 worth and after being pointed out his mistake goes ahead and pretends to reset the machine and fills up to Rs 1,000. All the while, you could be under the impression that you received Rs 1,500 worth of fuel. (Representative image)

4. Refuel at a reputed petrol pump

It is always advisable to refuel at a reputed petrol pump near your house and workplace, unless you need to refuel urgently. Request for a printed bill after the payment is made. It is advisable that you make payments with credit and debit cards only. (Representative image)

5. Quantity test

If you doubt the quantity, ask for a measuring test. Petrol pumps usually have a 5-litre jar supplied by the Weights and Measures Department. Use this to fill up the can yourself and if anything less than the amount fills up, you can report the pump to the police. (Representative image)
